For the first time, American pop singer Katy Perry performed her song ‘Just Love’ at the American Music Awards on Sunday night (local time) with Darius Rucker and dedicated the special performance to her father.
The ‘Firework’ star Katy and All right’ star Darius Rucker had astounded their audiences by revealing that they were playing together at the 2020 American Music Awards. However, the performance seemed important to Perry as she devoted her performance to her father.
The singer shared a captivating image of her with her father just before her show and wrote a note dedicating the performance to her. “Tonight’s @amas performance is for my father,” Perry wrote on Instagram.
The Star-Shared Post shows a baby Katy kissed by her dad. Beautiful post won over 9 million likes within a few minutes of posting.
Perry and Rucker performed ‘Only Love’ from the ‘Smile’ pop star soundtrack, which marked the first live performance of the single. The star that appeared casually at the show is a Canadian denim tuxedo and matched it with white stilettos.
Perry announced the plan with a tweet of her own: “Went back to church, met a new friend @dariusrucker and found #OnlyLove,” she wrote. “Tune in for Katheryn on the @AMAs tonight at 8/7c on @abcnetwork.”
The show also featured appearances by Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Megan Thee Stallion, Jennifer Lopez and more.
