The report of Greenpeace India has been prepared on the basis of PM 10 data in the year 2018. In this report, Jharia city of Jharkhand is among the most polluted cities in the country. Jharia is one of the main sources of coal in the country.
Dhanbad city of Jharkhand is the second most polluted city in the country. Dhanbad also has many coal mines and many industries related to mining.
The Greenpeace India report analyzed PM10 data in 287 cities in India and released the list of the most polluted cities. Noida is at the third place in this list. There are many industrial units in Noida too.
Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh is also included in the list. Ghaziabad is at number four in the list of Greenpeace India. There are thousands of factories in Ghaziabad too.
Ahmedabad in Gujarat ranks fifth in the list of polluted cities. In Ahmedabad too, the quantity of PM 10 was found to be much higher than the national standard of 60 micrograms per cubic meter.
UP has six cities among the 10 most polluted cities in the country. Bareilly is sixth in this list.
The fourth Airpocalypse report of Greenpeace India claimed that 231 of the 287 Indian cities included in the National Clean Air Program sustained high levels of air pollution. Prayagraj is at the seventh place in this list.
Moradabad city of Uttar Pradesh is at the eighth position in this list. There are industries related to brass.
On the ninth place is Firozabad city of UP. Here too the air quality has been found very poor.
The nation’s capital Delhi is at number 10 on this list, while Delhi was eighth in the year before.
